My favorite artist

 Solius Mendis

He was born on 13 July 1895 in Ambalangoda.

A person who has developed an artistic style that is unique to him.

Before drawing, he had the opportunity to study art in Ajanta, Ellora and Bhag in India and to learn       from the artist Nandalal Vos.

Among the temples he painted

Ø  Kalani Temple,

Ø  Ranasgalla Temple

Ø  Giriulla Meddepola Temple,

Ø  Vijaya Viharaya

                                  Takes an important place

·         Among the paintings of Kalani Viharaya .

.v  Arrival of the Buddha in Ceylon

v  Arrival at Nagadeepa

v  Prince Vijaya's visit to Ceylon,

. Ancient paintings are a unique creation

In addition to drawing, he also created Buddhist statues. The paintings and lines of the Kelani Vihara are complex in nature. Even the most delicate elements of objects are created very realistically. Colors are created using local raw materials. The light is well lit.
